India and China are seen trying to mend strained relations after the Galwan clash of 2020. Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar arrived in Beijing on Monday after visiting Singapore.

He was busy with high-level meetings in Beijing on Monday. Jaishankar met Chinese Vice President Han Cheng, Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC) Liu Qianchao.

In the meeting, Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar has said that he will help China in the chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). After the meeting with Vice President Han, he wrote in X, 'India has committed to help China in the chairmanship of the SCO.' He also said that the recent improvement in bilateral relations is also a subject of discussion.

Similarly, talks have been held between India and China about improving bilateral trade relations. "I believe that India-China relations will progress in a positive direction on the basis of mutual respect, common interest and mutual sensitivity," Foreign Minister Jaishankar said.

Last October, an agreement was reached to end the military stalemate in Ladakh region for 4 years. A few days after the same agreement, a meeting was held between Xi and Modi. After that, a meeting was held between the foreign and defense ministers of the two countries as well as at the national security advisor level.
