Cholera outbreaks are high in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Health Minister Roger Kamba said the infection is still aggressive. He says that they are at the height of the epidemic and the infected are still increasing.

Informing that more than 33,000 patients have been recorded across the country, Kamba said the death rate is 2 percent. According to the World Health Organization, the number of people infected with cholera in 2025 is more than 31,749 in 2024. Cholera infection has spread in 17 out of 26 provinces of the country.

Kinshasa, the capital of more than 1.7 million people, is currently finding about 130 new cholera infected patients per week. The government has been opening new treatment centers in Kinshasa to provide free care to confirmed patients.
