Nepali Ambassador to China Dr. Krishna Prasad Oli has said that Nepal is a suitable destination for foreign investment in South Asia.
On Tuesday evening, while gathering dozens of Chinese investors at the Nepali Embassy in Beijing, Ambassador Oli emphasized that according to the credit rating done by the International Monetary Fund, World Bank and International Rating Agency, Nepal is the country with the most favorable business environment in South Asia.
In an interaction on 'Emerging Nepal: Investment Opportunities', various entrepreneurs including Chinese Overseas Development Association (CODA), Araniko Beijing International Supply Chain Management Company participated in the program. They were also co-organizers of this event.
In addition to the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and China, Ambassador Oli emphasized that economic growth, foreign investment and more Chinese support are necessary to realize Nepal's national aspiration of 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali'.
He said, 'In order to achieve our development goals, investment and technology transfer from our friendly neighbor China in Nepal's energy, information technology, infrastructure, mining, agriculture, health and education sectors is inevitable.' He claimed that due to strong connectivity and infrastructure development along with the development of the center, Nepal will become not only a bilateral but also a regional hub for trade and investment. Coda Ha Chanwei said that since Nepal and China are partner countries with a common destiny, they can cooperate for each other's prosperity. He said that in recent times, Chinese goods have gained a prominent position in Nepal due to exports of electronics, medical devices, clean energy products, etc. He said, 'Even these small achievements of mutual cooperation have prepared the basis for not only the bilateral trade economy, but also for the comprehensive connectivity project.' Chai Wanming, executive director of Araniko Beijing International Supply Chain Management Company, who started his speech by knocking a 'singing bowl' in the auditorium, introduced it as a special product from Nepal.
He discussed about the enterprise business invested by his company in Nepal and suggested that the perception of Chinese towards Nepal should change. In his study, he believed that the purchasing power of Nepalis is increasing. He said, 'Nepal is not such a poor country as we Chinese are thinking.' She said that Nepal is making all possible efforts to bring in foreign investment and is formulating policies from creating a suitable environment.
