The streets of Serbia have been filled with protesters for the past week. They took to the streets saying that corruption has increased and democratic freedom has declined.
Demonstrators continue to demonstrate in the capital Belgrade, saying that the government led by President Aleksandar Vucic is illegal. They have also demanded immediate elections. The Associated Press reports that tens of thousands of people participated in the demonstration and that it ousted the populist President Vučić.
Serbian media wrote that due to the demonstration, the main road in the capital became chaotic, garbage was scattered everywhere on the road and trams and other means of transport were stopped .
According to local media, demonstrations are also being held in the capital and other small cities of the country. 48 policemen and 22 protesters were injured in Sunday's demonstration.
Students protesting in the capital Belgrade have been arrested for participating in anti-government demonstrations and attacking the police. The protestors are also demanding the release of the arrested university students. Only on Sunday, President Aleksandar Vucic said that those who attacked the police had been arrested and that it would not end there.
