With US President Donald Trump stopping foreign aid, it is estimated that 14 million people will die in five years. According to a study published in 'The Lancet' medical journal, 14 million people worldwide will be at risk of premature death by 2030.

According to the study, one-third of premature deaths will be children. For low- and middle-income countries, the impact is expected to be as large as a global pandemic or a major armed conflict, said David Russella, co-author of the Lancet report.

'Due to these budget cuts, the progress made in the health sector over the last two decades could come to an abrupt halt and the problem could worsen,' Rasela said in a statement.

Analyzing data from 133 countries, a team of researchers estimated that USAID aid saved nearly 91 million deaths in developing countries from 2001 to 2021.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced last March that President Trump's administration has canceled more than 80 percent of the programs of the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

America is the largest donor of humanitarian aid ever. The US was running aid programs in more than 60 countries. According to Rubio, there are still about 1,000 programs in operation.
