The weather and climate agency under the United Nations has suggested that the global community should be prepared to avoid and face this type of heat wave, saying that the current trend of extreme heat is likely to intensify in the future.

The spokesperson of the World Meteorological Organization, Claire Knollys, informed from Geneva on Tuesday,  ''In the Northern Hemisphere, July is usually very hot. But this time, it is an extraordinary situation to see such a high temperature at the beginning of summer.'

He mentioned that extreme heat is called 'silent killer' and said, 'The human damage caused by it can be as serious as other natural disasters such as storms or rains, but it is often less visible in official statistics.'

He further said, 'Every death caused by heat is preventable . We have enough information, technology and means of preparation, with the help of which lives can be saved.'

Western Europe is currently under the influence of high atmospheric pressure and the hot air from North Africa is trapped in the region, the spokesman said, 'This is directly affecting people's daily behavior and health .

In addition, the temperature of the sea surface in the Mediterranean region is increasing very much and it is giving more strength to the heat wave even in the land area.

The spokesperson said that since the concrete structures of the city have less capacity to absorb heat, there will be a lack of greenery, and the effect of heat will be greater in the cities . The

organization has requested the relevant agencies to be more active and alert, saying that effective operation of the early warning system and coordinated action plan are necessary to ensure public safety. The

spokesperson said at the end, 'Due to human-caused climate change, extreme heat is becoming more frequent and more intense. In the future, such situations will not only be repeated, but may take a more serious form. Therefore, timely preparation and vigilance is necessary.'
