It is reported that more than 10,000 people have been infected and 42 people have died so far this year due to the increase in dengue infections in Bangladesh in the month of June.

After 1,773 people were infected with the viral disease in May, 5,951 more cases of dengue have been recorded till June.

The data released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) under the Ministry of Health on Monday showed that the number of dengue infected people has reached 10,296 this year.

According to the data of DGHS, a total of 429 new cases of dengue have been reported in the 24 hours up to 8:00 local time on Monday, including 87 in the capital Dhaka.

19 people died in June, three in May, seven in April, three in February and 10 in January.

This year, from January 1 to June 30, nine thousand 87 dengue patients have returned home after treatment from various hospitals across the country.
