Australia has temporarily closed its embassy in Tehran, Iran. Due to the worsening security situation in Iran, Australia has immediately closed its embassy.

Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wang said, "Looking at the immediate situation, our ability to provide consular services is very limited." The airspace is still closed.'

Australia has instructed all its officers and their family members to leave Iran. Penny Wang said, "Consular staff are being deployed in Iran's neighboring country, Azerbaijan." She has also asked for help to evacuate at least 1,500 Australian citizens and their family members who are in Iran.
