US President Donald Trump has said that the United States may get involved in the Iran-Israel conflict and that his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, is "open" to mediation.

According to ABC News , Republican President Trump stated that talks on Iran's nuclear program are continuing and in an off-camera interview given to ABC News' senior political correspondent Rachel Scott, Trump said, "We may get involved" in the ongoing fighting between arch-enemies in the Middle East.

He said the United States is not currently involved in military action.

US President Trump said, 'Putin can be a potential mediator in the conflict and he is ready. He called me about it. We have had a long discussion on this matter.'

After a major attack by Israel with the aim of weakening Iran's nuclear and military structures, there was a fierce air attack between Israel and Iran for the third day in a row on Sunday.

Oman, which is playing the role of a mediator in the nuclear issue, said that the sixth round of talks between Iran and the United States, scheduled to be held this week, has been canceled, but US President Trump has said that both sides are continuing to discuss.

Asked if there was a deadline for Tehran to come to the negotiating table, he told ABC, 'No, there is no deadline for negotiations.'

'They are discussing and want to make a deal. "The conversation is ongoing," Scott quoted Trump as saying.

Trump has said that the conflict between Israel and Iran is "necessary" to speed up negotiations for a nuclear deal.

Trump said, 'It could actually force the deal to move faster.'
