The share price of the Boeing Company fell by 8 percent following the news of the plane crash in Ahmedabad, India on Thursday afternoon. An Air India 787-8 Dreamliner crashed within minutes of its flight from Ahmedabad to London. There were 242 passengers on the plane.
The plane was going to Gatwick Airport in the UK . According to the police, the plane crashed in the hostel of BJ Medical College near Ahmedabad Airport. Although this accident is the first of the Dreamliner aircraft, which is considered safer than other Boeing aircraft, it has raised more questions about the credibility of Boeing's safety .
Since the beginning of 2025, Boeing has been facing various safety and technical challenges like the accident in India. Previously, various Boeing planes in the flight of American Airlines in March, Etihad Airways in January, American Airlines in January and United Airlines in April had crashed. There are continuous technical problems in Boeing planes in dozens of places. According to
Reuters, Dreamliner planes were previously grounded for a while due to battery problems. However, there were no fatal accidents in these planes since they came into operation. However, Boeing's 737 MAX aircraft had already been grounded for years due to two fatal crashes. This has kept the company under surveillance for a long time .
Even the passengers sent to space by NASA had to be stuck there for months after the problems in Boeing's spacecraft. It also worsened Boeing's brand, share price and declining position. Boeing had changed its CEO just last year after struggling with constant technical and business problems, and new CEO Kelly Ortberg is now challenged.
