At least seven people were killed when a highway bridge collapsed and fell onto a train near the Ukrainian border in Russia. According to the emergency services of Russia, the accident happened in the area of Bryansk.

At least 32 people were injured in the accident. The Russian Emergencies Ministry said that rescue workers are still searching for people trapped inside the train.

In a statement on Telegram, Russian Railways blamed the collapse of the bridge on illegal interference with the transport system. The local governor said that two people including a child were seriously injured and all the injured were sent to the hospital.

Moscow's Inter-Regional Transport Prosecutor's Office has said that an investigation into the incident has been launched. Officials said the train was passing at the time of the accident and its engine and some coaches derailed when the bridge collapsed.
