A cholera outbreak has spread in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan. International media Al Jazeera reported that at least 70 people died in two days due to cholera.
Turkish media Daily Sabah quoted the Khartoum State Ministry of Health 942 new infections and 25 deaths on Wednesday and 1177 infections and 45 deaths on Tuesday.
Sudan has been in a power struggle between the military and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces led by the de facto leader of the army, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, for the past two years. Due to the violent power struggle, the water and electricity infrastructure of the capital city has been destroyed, which has added to the problem of controlling the outbreak of cholera.
