Four people were seriously injured when a speeding car crashed into a Premier League title parade full of Liverpool fans. The incident happened in Liverpool city center on Monday evening. While investigating officials believe it was not a terrorist attack, they have not said why a man drove his car into the celebrating crowd.
In the videos published on social media, it is seen that a gray car is moving towards the crowd through the closed road. Reuters reports that the speeding car threw some people into the sky and at least four people were crushed by the wheels.
Liverpool supporters smashed the windows of the car after the car that was moving towards the crowd stopped. The police said that 20 injured people were treated at the scene and 27 people were taken to the hospital.
Liverpool City Metro Mayor Steve Rothrem, speaking to the BBC, said that four people are still being treated in hospital in a very serious condition. The BBC quoted the police as saying that the driver of the car, a 53-year-old British citizen, was arrested.
