After the Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow, the capital of Russia, flights at the Moscow airport were suspended on Thursday. The Ministry of Defense said that 35 Ukrainian drones attacked the city of Moscow overnight.

"The air defense system destroyed 150 Ukrainian drones, 35 of which were flying towards Moscow," the ministry said in a statement. According to the Mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, after Russia attacked Ukraine with the largest number of drones over the weekend, Ukraine also attacked. Since Russia launched its military offensive against Ukraine three years ago, the two countries have been conducting drone strikes against each other on a daily basis. But Moscow was rarely targeted.

According to the Aviation Authority of Russia, flights were suspended at most of the airports due to the targeted attack on Moscow on Thursday. The planes were temporarily grounded at the city's main Sheremetyevo airport as well as other airports. Russian President Vladimir Putin is rejecting calls by Kiev and the West for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire.

Russia has now taken control of most of the territory of Ukraine, including the Crimea peninsula. He captured Crimea in 2014. This war has claimed tens of thousands of lives and millions of civilians have been displaced.
