India has imposed a ban on the import of Bangladeshi items such as ready-made garments and food items.

On Saturday, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) under the Ministry of Commerce of India has issued a notification in this regard.

The ban imposed by DGFT has been implemented immediately. Under these restrictions, import permits for ready-made garments from Bangladesh will not be granted from any port.  According to the

notification, its permission will now be given only from the port of Nawa Shewa Port and the port of Kolkata. The port restriction will not apply to the import of fish, LPG, crushed stone and edible oil from Bangladesh.

According to the ministry, this port ban will not apply to Bangladeshi goods going to Nepal and Bhutan through India.
