Five soldiers of the Multinational Security Force were killed on Friday in a jihadist attack on a military camp in northeastern Nigeria bordering Cameroon. Fierce clashes erupted after militants from the Islamic State West Africa Province attacked a joint Nigerian-Cameroon military camp in the town of Wulgo early Friday morning. Nine attackers were also killed in the encounter.
"Four Nigerians and one Cameroonian soldier were killed, nine attackers were also killed in the encounter," a military official said. According to the official, the militants managed to capture the military camp. A few months ago, 25 Cameroonian soldiers were killed in a similar attack on the same camp.
Security forces jointly formed by Nigeria, Cameroon, Benin, Chad and Niger have been conducting operations against armed groups in the border areas. But currently Niger has withdrawn The

In Friday's attack, militants burned two ammunition-resistant armored vehicles, five military vehicles.
