The Indian Army has said that 10 militants were killed in an encounter with a unit of the Assam Rifles in Manipur's Chandel district on Wednesday night.
The Eastern Command of the Indian Army has written a post on the social network X and said, "Assam Rifles unit launched an operation on May 14 while acting on secret information received about the movement of armed militants near New Samtal village in Chandel district of India-Myanmar border." The Eastern Command said that during the
operation, suspected militants opened fire on the army and 10 militants were killed in the retaliatory action. It is also said that a large amount of weapons and ammunition were seized in the operation. The army said the operation is still ongoing.
