Islamabad denied India's claim that Pakistan shot down 400 drones

Tensions between India and Pakistan continued on Friday. The tension between India and Pakistan is on the rise after the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, India.

In response to the attack in Kashmir that killed 26 tourists, India named 'Operation Sindoor' in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir and interior Pakistan as well. In response, Pakistan also attacked 300 to 400 drones on various locations in India on Thursday evening, Indian military officials claimed.

After the 'Operation Sindoor' launched by India, 31 innocent civilians, including women and children, were killed in that attack, Pakistan has also said that it has retaliated. With the conflict between India and Pakistan reaching its peak after decades, civilians are being killed in attacks on both sides of the disputed Kashmir border.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs said that Pakistan had attacked 3/4 hundred drones on Thursday night. In Friday's press briefing, Colonel Sophia Qureshi informed that Pakistan had launched a drone attack on 36 different locations in India on Thursday night.

'From Leh to Sarkrik, 3/400 infiltration attempts were made through drones in 36 places. "Indian security forces shot down several drones using kinetic and non-kinetic devices," Colonel Qureshi said in the briefing. Pakistan has denied the allegations made by the Indian side.

On Thursday night, Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif claimed in a conversation with the BBC that there was no drone attack. "We haven't done anything yet," he said, "When Pakistan attacks, everyone will know." According to Colonel Qureshi, Pakistan tried to attack with drones made in Turkey. She also said that Pakistan has fired heavily in the border area. Although he said that there were some human casualties in the cross-border attack, he did not reveal anything about the number.

As the latest conflict between India and Pakistan began to take the form of a war, diplomatic efforts to reduce it have begun, but there are no signs of abating. Both countries have ramped up the use of unmanned drones to carry out strikes across each other's borders amid recent tensions. Since Wednesday, India has said that drones were mainly used in the attacks launched in Pakistan. Similarly, it is said that on Thursday and Friday, India attacked various places in Pakistan's Rawalpindi, Lahore and Kashmir through drones.

Due to the raging war between the two neighboring countries, the common people living on the border of both the countries are terrified. A 'black out' has been implemented in the border areas of both the countries at night. Markets, schools and streets of once busy towns and villages near the Line of Control between India and Pakistan are now deserted.

The Indian Army has also started deploying its reserve forces to strengthen its operations against Pakistan.

Pakistan has targeted Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bathinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai and Bhuj, according to India. The Indian Defense Ministry has claimed that the attack on the city was neutralized by the air defense system. Soon after, India claimed that Pakistan's air defense system in Lahore was 'deactivated'.

The Pakistani army has claimed that 25 Indian drones have been shot down since Wednesday. It is claimed that 3 drones were shot down in Rawalpindi. Pictures of damage caused by drones in some cities including Karachi in Pakistan have been published.

As Pakistan launched an attack on the Indian-administered Jammu city on Thursday evening, the cricket series IPL between Punjab and Delhi was stopped in the 11th over of the first innings. The Hindustan Times reported that an explosion was also heard in the city of Pathankot in the Punjab province of India, quoting a police source.

Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has confirmed that the number of people killed in Pakistan's attack on Jammu and Kashmir has reached 16. According to him, 59 people are injured. "Pakistan has attacked civilians, it has been confirmed again that Pakistan is responsible for the attack in Pahalgam on April 22," Misri said in a press briefing.

Schools in Pakistan's Punjab province have been closed for two days after rising tensions with India. The Punjab government has ordered closure of all schools on Friday and Saturday. It is said that O-level and A-level exams will continue as per the schedule. Schools have also been closed for three days in the Indian province of Punjab.

The US Consulate General in Lahore, Pakistan has asked its employees to go to a safe place. The embassy also informed that the Pakistani authorities are preparing to evacuate the area around Lahore's main airport in a notification on its website.
