Six people were killed in a stampede at Sri Lairai Devi Temple in Shirgaon, North Goa. News agency PTI reported that 15 people were injured.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant visited North Goa District Hospital in Mapusa and met the injured. 

According to a senior police officer, this incident took place in the early hours of the morning at Sri Lairai Devi Temple in Shirgaon. 

Thousands of devotees from Goa, Maharashtra and Karnataka reached the temple to participate in this festival. An investigation is underway to find out the cause of the stampede.
