Harvard University filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration

Harvard University has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration in federal court. The university filed a lawsuit in federal court in Boston on Monday after the Trump administration suspended more than $2 billion in federal grants to Harvard.

Last week, Harvard University rejected a list of demands from the Trump administration, and the dispute between the two sides was growing . The demands were directed at halting university diversity programs and combating anti-Semitism. which was rejected by the university .

President Donald Trump has already decided to freeze the federal budget of 2 billion 200 million dollars. He has also threatened to remove the university's tax exemption facilities. Harvard President Alan M. Garber said in a letter to the university on Monday that such things will have a long-term impact. It is mentioned in the letter that "such intervention of the government will have serious and long-term effects".

Monday night the White House responded with a statement. Harrison Fields, spokesman for the White House, said that Harvard could not meet the necessary basic conditions. Fields says, ``Federal aid to institutions like Harvard benefits overpaid employees with American taxpayer money.'' Now it ends . Taxpayer money is a convenience, not a right . Harvard has not met the basic conditions necessary to get that facility.'

Harvard President Garber said that when the budget was stopped, important research such as children's cancer, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease was affected. This case is related to the government's efforts to influence Harvard's academic decisions by withholding the federal budget, the lawsuit filed by the university states.

A few days ago, apart from the budget, the Trump administration threatened to jeopardize Harvard's ability to enroll international students. But he said that a special task force has been formed to solve this problem. According to him, the university will soon publish the research report conducted by two working groups on the issue of prejudice against the Jewish and Muslim communities.

Not only Harvard but many other institutions are also facing the problem of the federal budget freeze . These budgets contribute greatly to new scientific research. The administration has also targeted other private Ivy League universities, withholding federal funding of $1 billion for Cornell University and $510 million for Brown University.

Other universities, including Columbia, which became the center of the pro-Palestinian movement last year, have accepted some demands after threats to stop the federal budget of 400 million dollars . The White House sent a letter to Harvard's campus to change the appointment and admission process, as well as other demands . In response, Harvard issued a strong protest letter rejecting those demands .

Harvard lawyers responded to the Trump administration on April 14, noting that the university will never give up its independence and constitutional rights. Former US president and Harvard alumnus Barack Obama has said that he will support the university.
