At least 58 people were killed in an attack by the US military on Yemen's Houthi rebels on Friday, Al Masirah TV, close to the Houthi group, reported. At least 125 people were injured in the attack.

In the initial information given after the attack, it was said that the fuel port under the control of the Houthi group was destroyed and at least 20 people were killed. The US military said the attack on the Ras Isa fuel port was aimed at cutting off sources of supply and funding for the Iran-backed Houthi rebels.

In order to end the attacks on civilian ships and military ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, Washington has been conducting daily airstrikes on the Houthi rebels since March 15.

The rebels launched an attack in Gaza in late 2023 in solidarity with the Palestinians. The Israeli army said on Friday that it intercepted a missile coming from Yemen after the US attack. A statement issued by US Central Command (CENTCOM) said, 'The US military has taken steps to eliminate this source of fuel for Iran-backed Houthi 'terrorists' and deprive them of illegal revenue. For more than ten years, it has provided financial support against Houthi attempts to terrorize ships.

'The purpose of these attacks is to weaken the financial source of Houthi power. The Houthis are continuing to exploit Yemen and are inflicting great pain on their opponents Yemeni citizens.

Although Washington declared the rebels a foreign terrorist organization earlier this year, US-invested ships continue to supply fuel through the port of Ras Isa," the military command said without specifying the source of the fuel.

Houthi Health Ministry spokesman Anis Alasbahi confirmed the death of 20 people, including five paramedics, but said the death toll was much higher.
