US President Donald Trump has been active again for a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, which has been at war for more than three years. Trump's special envoy Steve Wittkoff met Russian President Putin while Trump was calling on his Russian counterpart to take a quick decision on the ceasefire.

Wittkoff, who arrived in St. Petersburg, Russia on Friday, held talks with Putin for more than four hours. Witkoff met with Putin for the third time since Trump took office as the US president. The Russian presidential office, the Kremlin, said that the talks, which lasted for more than four hours, focused on the resolution of the Ukraine war. Similarly, Putin's special envoy Kirill Dmitriev said that the talks were very fruitful.

But American President Trump has expressed his disappointment with Putin about the pace of talks, according to the BBC. Now Russia has to move forward. "Thousands of people are losing their lives every week in a terrible and senseless war," Trump wrote on social media.

Previously, President Trump had claimed to end the Russia-Ukraine war within 24 hours of taking office. On Friday, Trump claimed that if he were the US president, Russia would not have launched a full-scale attack on Ukraine. There was no need for such a war. It wouldn't have happened if I was president,' said Trump.

After Trump's special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, disagreed about the possible division of the country, Trump's reaction became public. In an interview with "The Times" magazine, Kellogg proposed that British and French forces could remain in the controlled area in the western part of Ukraine.
