At least 18 people were killed in an explosion that occurred on Tuesday at a paper factory and warehouse in the Indian state of Gujarat. According to the Indian media, 5 people were injured in the incident.

Most of the dead are industrial workers. In the incident at Deepak Traders in Disa Nagar, Banaskantha district of Gujarat state, a part of the industry collapsed and many people were trapped. The fire spread after the explosion in the industry.

According to the police, it was reported that six people died in the incident. But after the fire was brought under control, the number of dead increased during the search. It is not yet certain how many workers were present in the industry during the incident.

About 200 people from police, municipal employees and district administration have been deployed for rescue. The police have started investigating the incident. The local administration is evaluating the cause of the fire and the damage. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has announced compensation for the victims of the accident.

In India, such accidents are happening frequently because safety standards are neglected in firecracker factories and warehouses. According to Indian media, hundreds of people have lost their lives in such incidents.
