Earlier this year, China executed four Canadians accused of drug-related crimes.

According to the international news organization BBC, Canadian officials have confirmed the news.

Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly, while talking to reporters on Wednesday, said that they all have citizenship of two countries and their identities have been kept secret at the request of their families.

Condemning China's decision, Foreign Minister Joly has said that this punishment is against basic human dignity. Also, she has personally appealed for mercy.  According to

report, the spokesperson of the Chinese embassy in Canada has requested Canada to stop irresponsible comments because there is solid and strong evidence of crimes against three Canadian citizens who were sentenced to death.

The Chinese embassy said, "Beijing has fully guaranteed the rights and interests of the concerned Canadian citizens." Canada must respect China's judicial sovereignty.'
