The Russian army has recaptured Sudzha, the main town of the Kusark region. which was previously controlled by Ukraine. The Russian Defense Ministry said that units of the Northern Group of Forces had liberated the settlements of Melovoi, Podol and Sudzha during their offensive.
Sudzha, which has been under Ukrainian control since the cross-border offensive in August 2024, is an important place to secure supplies for Ukraine's operations in the Kusrk region.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday that the Russian military operation to recapture the Kusk region has entered its final phase. According to the head of the Russian army, Valery Gerasimov, the Russian army has regained more than 1,100 square kilometers of territory in the Kusark region.
