Former President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte has been arrested. He was arrested by the Philippine police on Tuesday on charges of crimes against humanity.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant against him on charges of crimes against humanity.

Duterte was arrested by the police at Manila Airport, the capital of the Philippines. The international media mentioned that he was detained from the airport after returning from Hong Kong. 

Duterte was the president of the South East Asian nation of the Philippines from 2016 to 2022 and took action against drugs. in which thousands of people were killed. 

Earlier, he said that he was ready to go to jail regarding the possible arrest. The International Alliance for the Rights of the Philippines called her arrest a "historic moment".
