A warning to end the ceasefire and eliminate the Palestinian group Hamas if the hostages are not released
US President Donald Trump is furious after the Palestinian group Hamas said it would block the release of hostages. On Saturday, Hamas planned to free three Israelis held hostage in Gaza as Israel released more Palestinian prisoners. But Hamas has postponed the release of the hostages, saying that Israel has violated the ceasefire agreement.
Then Roost Trump warned that he would announce the end of the ceasefire if Hamas did not release all hostages by 12 noon on Saturday. He warned that if the hostages were not released, he would end the ceasefire and destroy Hamas, according to CNN. "I think they should all be back by 12 o'clock on Saturday. Not by installments," said Trump, "I have put my opinion. Israel can even correct it.
Hamas still controls 76 people. 73 of them were taken hostage by Hamas during the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel. One of the 73 is Nepalese Bipin Joshi. Joshi from Kanchanpur went to Israel to study agriculture under the 'Learn and Earn' programme. 3 people have been under the control of Hamas since a decade ago.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has said that blocking the release of the hostages is a complete violation of the ceasefire. He has also instructed the army to be alert. He said that he ordered to be on high alert for any possible situation in Gaza and for the safety of the community. "We will not allow the reality of October 7 to return," he said.
However, if Israel fulfills its obligations according to the ceasefire agreement, the door to the prisoner exchange on Saturday will remain open, Hamas said. According to the news agency AFP, Hamas spokesman Abu Obeidah accused Israel of delaying the return of displaced Palestinians to northern Gaza, firing on residents and not allowing the delivery of humanitarian aid as agreed.
A ceasefire between Hamas and Israel began on January 19. Since then, 16 Israeli and 5 Thai hostages have been released. In return, 566 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons have been released.
Hamas agreed to release 33 hostages in the first phase of a three-phase ceasefire. In return, Israel will release 1900 Palestinians in the agreement. According to the Israeli Prime Minister's Office, 8 of the 33 have died.
The ceasefire agreement states that negotiations for the second phase will take place 16 days after the first phase begins. But the talks have not started yet. In the second phase of the ceasefire, the remaining hostages will be released and the Israeli forces will be completely withdrawn from Gaza. The third phase includes the plan for the reconstruction of Gaza.
