After US President Donald Trump said that he would own Gaza, Hamas reacted strongly. At a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday, Trump said he would own and redevelop the Gaza Strip.
Trump's statement was termed "ridiculous" and "absurd" by Hamas official Sami Abu Johari. According to the international news organization Reuters, Johari responded that this statement of Trump will affect the process of prisoner release after the ceasefire.
Trump said that the US would take ownership of Gaza, which was destroyed by Israeli attacks, and destroy its weapons. He also asked the Palestinians not to return to Gaza under the status quo. "Gaza is not suitable for living". It would be better for them to live in other countries in the Middle East," he said. Trump announced a long-term ownership plan at the conference.
