The Palestinian group Hamas has announced the names of three people it will release in the first phase of the ceasefire. The social network Telegram made a post public and said that Hamas would release three female hostages.
According to Hamas, Doron Steinbrecher, Emilie Damari and Romi Gonen will be released at the beginning of the first phase of the ceasefire. All three of them were taken hostage by Hamas after an attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023.
31-year-old Doron Steinbrecher is a veterinary nurse . She was in an apartment in Kibbutz Kfar Aza when Hamas attacked on October 7.
Emily Damari, 28, was taken hostage from Kibbutz Kfar Aza . He is said to have dual citizenship of the UK and Israel. Speaking at an event in London on October 6, 2024, her mother, Mandy, said that her daughter was met by the hostages who were released last November.
Similarly, 24-year-old Romi Gonen was ambushed while trying to escape from the Supernova Festival. His mother, Merav Lesem Gonan, addressed the UN Human Rights Council in June, appealing for international assistance to free the hostages.
