18-year-old Indian teenager Gukesh Dommaraju has become the world's youngest chess champion. Dommaraju created history by defeating the defending champion Ding Liren of China in an exciting match on Thursday.

He became world famous by winning the title in the final match of the FIDE World Chess Championship held in Singapore. Dommaraju won the title with scores of 7.5 and 6.5 in the final match on Thursday. This victory made him the 18th chess champion in the world.  With the

title, Dommaraju has broken the record of Russian Grandmaster Garry Kasparov. Kasparov won this title in 1985 at the age of 22. 

Dommaraju from Chennai was famous for playing chess since his childhood. He won the Grandmaster title at the age of 12 years and 7 months. Chennai is considered the chess capital of India. It is said that some other players in Dommaraju's family are not.  This series of 14 matches of the

championship was eagerly watched by chess lovers all over the world for the last fortnight. Before the final match, Dommaraju and Ding had won two games apiece and tied eight games.
