On this day (August 13) in 1910, Florence Nightingale died. Florence, who dedicated her life to improving the nursing system, is known as the 'Lady with the Lamp'.

Florence, the founder of modern nursing, was born in Italy on May 12, 1820. Florence became a nurse to serve people against her parents' wishes.

After taking care of her sick grandmother, she started studying nursing with the intention of dedicating her life to caring for people. In particular, she worked around the clock to serve the wounded during the Crimean War. During the war, she went to Turkey with a team of 38 nurses to serve the wounded soldiers.

At that time, she used to light candles and serve the wounded soldiers. That is why the British government honored her with the title of 'Lady with the Lamp'.
