The bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Dutta of the Supreme Court of India has ordered the release of Chief Minister Kejriwal
.
Chief Minister Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a liquor policy case registered in August 2022. The court also said that Kejriwal can campaign for the Lok Sabha elections till June 1. Similarly, the court has also said that the case of Kejriwal's arrest in the liquor policy case may be heard soon.
The court also raised questions about the arrest of Kejriwal after one and a half years of the case being registered. Judge Khanna said during the hearing, 'ED registered the case in August 2022. He was arrested in March 2024. He was there for a year and a half. The arrest could have been earlier or later. Again 21 days should not make any difference.'
