Kathmandu Metropolitan City is conducting a skill fair in Tundikhel from May 7. Tundikhel looks buzzing with the crowd of participants in training related to 37 professions in 10 different fields.
Most of the participants in this free training started by the metropolis to increase employment and income are students who have recently passed the class 12 exam. Shailendra Jha, Coordinator of the Skill Fair Implementation Committee, said that the fair was organized with the aim of increasing self-employment and employment. The metropolis had completed the first edition of a similar fair last year. He said that the target is to train 2082 people this year, but the number of applications is more than 3500. 2 thousand 547 people were selected to receive training in this year's skill fair.
In this year's skill fair, skill training related to 37 occupations in 10 sectors including construction, hospitality and service, ICT (Information and Communication Technology) and electronics, art and culture, agriculture, garment, automobile, mechanical, electronics and spatial ability skills is going on.
In this year's skill fair, the metropolis has added house keeping training for people with deaf disabilities. Last year, 2,575 people took the training. For which the metropolis had allocated a budget of about one crore rupees. This year, the metropolis has allocated a budget of 2 crore rupees for the skill fair.
