Mulkot in Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-5 of Sindhuli was affected by the flood that occurred in Sunkoshi on October 11th and 12th. Hotels, resorts, roads, houses and schools were flooded. Suddenly, the flood entered the settlement and soon Gulzar Mulkot turned into ruins.
Quality Beach Resort on the Sunkoshi coast attracted everyone while going up and down from Mulkot to the capital Kathmandu via the BP highway. But this flood destroyed the structure of the resort. The floor of the resort was damaged by sinking. The staff, the manager cleaned the resort day and night and brought it into operation now . Rajesh Shrestha, owner and management in charge of Quality Beach Resort, said that the resort was put into operation after four and a half months. He said that they have risen from the disaster and are in a position to serve again.
There are 5 hotels and resorts with swimming pools in Mulkot. All of them suffered from the flood but now all of them are back in operation. Manoj Shrestha, owner of Unique Hotel and Resort, said that although the road has not yet been reconstructed, they have started the service.
The flood of October washed away the 12 km road section of the BP highway. Even after 8 months, the road has not been constructed sustainably. As a result, guests coming from Kathmandu to Mulkot are suffering. As a result, the resort owner says that the number of guests has decreased. Mulkot, which is trying to return to its old rhythm, is now obstructed by the broken road structure.
The businessmen who are trying to get up again after suffering losses of millions are sure that Mulkot will return to its old rhythm if only the roads will improve.
