Israel started airstrikes in Gaza ignoring the cease-fire agreement and has also started ground attacks since Thursday. According to the Hamas-run Health Ministry, at least 85 Palestinians have been killed in attacks by Israeli forces in Gaza on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) intensified their attacks on Khan Yunus and Rafah towns in southern Gaza and the northern town of Beit Lahiya. More than 430 Palestinians lost their lives in the attacks carried out by the IFD on Monday and Tuesday. More than 100 children and women are among those killed. More than 660 people were injured in that attack.
The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) launched an additional attack immediately after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the resumption of fighting in the Palestinian territories. Netanyahu said he would "fight with full force" against Hamas. He says that the latest attack is 'just the beginning'.
The attacks carried out in the last three days are the worst since the ceasefire agreement between the two sides came into effect on January 19. The agreement states that the ceasefire will be implemented in three phases. In the first phase of the ceasefire, it was said that the second phase would be negotiated. But the talks have not been done.
In the second phase of the proposal, it is mentioned that Israel will withdraw its troops from Gaza. But Israel and the US insisted on extending the period of the first phase. Their proposal was to release the remaining hostages in exchange for more Palestinian prisoners during that period. But after Hamas did not agree, the war broke out again.
Netanyahu has said that the fight for the return of the remaining hostages had to be restarted. With the Israeli army intensifying the attack, the release of the remaining 59 prisoners under the control of Hamas, including the Nepali youth Vipin, has become more uncertain.
