The video sharing platform TikTok removed nearly 2 million videos from Nepal in the first three months of 2026. The company also stated that it increased monitoring of activities on ‘TikTok Live,’ raising the suspension rate to 2.7 percent. The content removed in Nepal during this period accounted for 0.4 percent of the total videos posted.
TikTok removed 1,961,698 videos from Nepal between January and March. These videos were taken down from the platform for violating community guidelines. Of the total videos removed, the company reported that it proactively identified and removed 99.2 percent itself.
Similarly, 86.5 percent of the videos were removed within 24 hours of being posted. Some videos, however, were restored after further review. In Nepal, 61,992 videos were restored during this period.
During this period, TikTok removed more than 184 million videos worldwide. This number represents about 0.5 percent of the total content uploaded to the platform. The company stated that most content violating community guidelines is identified and removed through automation technology.
According to the Community Guidelines Enforcement Report on the company’s website, TikTok also shut down more than 86.2 million fake accounts worldwide. Similarly, the company reported that more than 25.7 million accounts suspected to belong to users under the age of 13 were removed.
Recently, TikTok has also tightened monitoring of live broadcasts. The suspension rate for live sessions has increased to 2.7 percent, the highest so far, according to the press release. During this period, more than 58.2 million live sessions faced actions such as warnings or demonetization.
The report also states that more than 21.9 million live creators faced action during this period. TikTok said it is continuously developing its content moderation system to create a safe digital environment.
TikTok removes videos both proactively and based on requests from the government. According to the company’s latest data on ‘government removal requests,’ the Government of Nepal submitted 745 requests in the second half of 2025. These requests sought the removal of a total of 2,047 pieces of content. TikTok reported that it took action on 1,029 items at the government’s request and on 130 pieces of content that violated local laws.
The report states that TikTok took no action on 888 pieces of content included in government requests. During the same period, the government also requested information on 817 accounts, according to the report.
