AI technology to identify cybercrime incidents

With cybercrime incidents on the rise in recent times, experts have pointed out that artificial intelligence (AI) technology can be used to identify cyber risks, control fraud, and quickly counter cyber attacks.

In a discussion facilitated by Sulabh Timilsina, Pravesh Poudel shared his experience of the banking sector, explaining how AI technology is helping to identify suspicious transactions, secure digital banking platforms, and control online fraud. According to him, AI is increasingly being used in banking security because it can analyze a large amount of data and detect risks faster than traditional systems.

Sameer Gautam of cybersecurity company 'Security Pal' pointed out that although AI is effective in strengthening cybersecurity, it is being misused by cyber criminals. He said that crimes such as phishing, social engineering, identity theft, and fraud through deepfakes are on the rise. Stating that traditional security measures alone are not enough to mitigate this, he mentioned that advanced technology and security strategies are needed.

Rajkumar Maharjan, Director of the National Cyber Security Center, said that the role of policy-level arrangements and regulation is important for the safe and responsible use of AI. He pointed out the need for a data protection policy and clarified that the collected data should be used only for the purpose for which it was collected. He said that digital literacy is the most effective way to reduce cybercrime.
