This new number range has been issued in accordance with the rules of the National Numbering Allocation Plan of the Authority. The Authority has provided the new number range as the number ranges 980, 981, 982, 970 previously issued to Ncell were insufficient.

'We are grateful to the authority for granting permission for the new number range considering the market situation,' said Upang Dutt, Chief Consumer Business Officer, Ncell. 'The distribution of numbers in the new number range has started after necessary preparations. In the current situation, where digital transactions and various services are being taken via mobile, apart from ordinary communication services, the new number will benefit both the consumer and the service provider.'

Apart from telecommunication services, a mobile number is required to receive one-time passwords (OTPs) related to various services/facilities, sign up for mobile apps and web-based services, and conduct various digital transactions.
