Addressing the first quarterly review of the fiscal year 2082/083 and the meeting of the ministerial-level development problem resolution committee on Wednesday, he emphasized digital administrative reforms.
The 'Integrated Electronic System Directive on Government Body Operations' was made in 2078 BS to implement the concept of a paperless government by implementing the tasks performed by government bodies in a simple, easy, fast, economical, transparent and effective manner through a single electronic system. The Government Integrated Office Management System (GIOMS) developed by the Department of Information Technology has not yet been used in all ministries.
According to the directive, any government body can request the department to join the system to complete the tasks it performs in an integrated manner. The directive mentions that the tasks to be performed through the information technology system include issuing specific orders and submitting comments, registering and invoicing letters, maintaining electronic attendance, approving leave and work, performing material management related tasks, performing performance evaluation related tasks, making appointments, assignments, transfers, promotions and postings.
However, ministries and other government agencies still seem to use paper in the traditional way. Some offices are even running out of space to store documents.
