Apple has given Tata Group the task of repairing iPhone and MacBook devices in the Indian market. It is being commented that the role of the Indian company Tata Group in Apple's supply chain has become more important.
The Hindu says that Tata has become a major supplier for Apple, which is trying to expand its production outside China. Tata is currently assembling (manufacturing) iPhones for the local and overseas markets at three factories in South India. It is estimated that some iPhone parts are being manufactured in one of those factories. Indian media reported that Tata is going to take over the maintenance from Apple's Taiwanese partner 'Wistron Company', the Indian branch of 'ICT Service Management Solutions'. Now Tata will operate the repair service from the iPhone assembly campus in Karnataka.
In India, which is considered the world's second largest smartphone market, iPhone sales are increasing rapidly, so the demand for repair services has also increased . According to research organization Counterpoint, about 11 million iPhones were sold in India last year. It took Apple's share of the Indian market to 7 percent. In 2020, Apple's share was only 1 percent.
According to Reuters
news, Tata will provide repair services of a complex nature from its factory in Karnataka. Repairs that are not possible in Apple's official service centers are going to be done here .
