Han Jung-hee, the assistant chief executive officer of the South Korean company "Samsung Electronics", passed away on Tuesday due to a heart attack. He headed Samsung's digital devices and device experience department for mobile phones and home appliances.
Han, who was born in 1962, spent a total of 37 years at Samsung, the company said. He was appointed as the Vice-President and Assistant-Head of Electronics Department in 2022. According to
CNN, Han played an important role in taking Samsung's television business to a global level. "We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones at this difficult time," the company's message said.
Just last week, the four executive directors on Samsung's board, including Han, conducted the company's annual general meeting. There, the shareholders were curious about the declining share price of the company.
Samsung has been facing various challenges in the last few years. In particular, Samsung is facing challenges in the production and promotion of semiconductor chips and the competition with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC).
In the general meeting, Han apologized to the investors for the loss in the stock market, according to Reuters. He said that in the year 2025, Samsung will explore the 'merger' and acquisition deal . "There are some difficulties in mergers and acquisitions in the semiconductor sector due to regulatory issues and international interest, but we will get some solid results this year," he said.
