Two astronauts, who have been in space for nine months, will finally return to earth next month due to the breakdown of the spacecraft they were on.
Sunita Williams 'Sunny' and Barry Willmore 'Butch' who are doing various research, exploration, scientific tests and spec walk in the International Space Station (ISS) are scheduled to return in March.
According to CBS News and the New York Post, NASA is going to return on March 12 through the Crew Dragon spacecraft along with Sunita and Butch, another astronaut Nick Hague and cosmonaut Alexander Gorbunov. Haig and Gorbunov visited the space station last September. Sunita and Butch left for the final test flight of Boeing's Starliner.
They reached the ISS, which is 480 km above the surface of the earth for eight days. They stayed in the center after a problem occurred in the propulsion system of the spacecraft, and the spacecraft was returned empty. While there, they did research and research with 4 other NASA astronauts and 3 astronauts from the Russian space program. Just last week, they did a joint 'space walk' i.e. exiting the spacecraft and walking in space. He spent four hours repairing the antenna of the plane.
Sunita has said that they are safe, healthy and happy in space. He says that physical changes have come because he has been living there for a long time. In an interview with NBC, Sunith, speaking from space, said that she works regularly for two hours a day and does physical exercises for a long time. 'We are fine here, we are healthy, it feels like home to me,' she said, 'I had planned to spend time with my family and my mother. I miss them.'
As soon as he assumed the office of President in America, Donald Trump accused former President Joe Biden's administration of leaving astronauts in space. "Brave astronauts have been stranded in space by the Biden administration," Trump wrote on his own social media platform, Truth Social, "They have been waiting for months to come home to the space station." Inn is bringing them. I hope everyone will return safely, best wishes to Inal.' NASA said it would return them to Earth "as soon as practicable". Since Sunita and Butch arrived at the space station, they have delivered essential items four times, and currently Sunita is the head of the space station. According to The New York Times, the decision of how and for how long to keep them there will be made by NASA, not by the President's administration.
Such challenges are not unusual in space travel and NASA is preparing to send another team to the space center as soon as they return. Although the center normally shelters 7 people, it has the capacity to accommodate up to 10 people. In 2009, there were 13 people. As the current astronauts return, there will be American astronauts Anna McClain and Nicole Ayers, Takayu Onishi from the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency and Russian cosmonaut Kirill Peskov at the center.
