Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police, other specialized offices and high-ranking police officers are misusing the names and status of various people, the bureau said. Bureau has requested to be cautious as such emails are hoax (false or misleading).
Recently, there have been public complaints regarding the sending of emails to various people claiming the names of various offices and high officials of Nepal Police and the bureau has informed that serious attention has been drawn to this matter. "These emails said to have been sent from other police offices including the Nepal Police Cyber Bureau are hoax emails, so please do not believe the emails of this nature and do not give any response," the bureau said in a statement.
It has been informed that the police is investigating such emails. If there is any doubt about this matter, the Bureau has appealed to understand more through the contact number and email on the official website of Cyber Bureau.
Hoax emails are emails sent with the intent to deceive or defraud . Such emails are also sent with the intention of stealing personal information, getting you to download malware or extorting money . These emails are designed to create curiosity, fear or curiosity.
