A person who was stranded on an island in the Mahakali River near Malika Tole, Dodhara Chandani Municipality-4, Kanchanpur has been rescued. A team of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force rescued the person stranded on the island.

Umesh Chaulagain, 52, of Kavrepalanchok, who had come to his relative's house in Dodhara Chandani, had reached Bagar on Saturday morning while visiting the Mahakali River. But when the water flow in the river suddenly increased, he was stranded on the island. He was rescued safely, said DSP Tek Bahadur Rawat of the District Police Office, Kanchanpur.

He said that at around 7:30 am on Saturday morning, he got stranded in the middle of the Mahakali River, about two kilometers south of the suspension bridge, and when he called for help, the local residents informed the police and a rescue team was immediately deployed.

As the monsoon season has become active, the flow of water and risk in the Mahakali River are increasing, so security agencies have urged the general public to avoid unnecessary movement in the areas around the river and to adopt high alertness.
