A fight broke out between locals from Humla and Bajura in the Ranisain area, where the eastern base camp of Saipal Himal is located, over a border dispute. The arrested men were accused of coming to Lampata on Jestha 3 and 5 and beating and holding hostage local residents, including people's representatives from Himali Rural Municipality 3, Lampata. In the process, ward member Pema Gora Gurung of Himali Rural Municipality 3, his wife Laxmi Gurung, Minu Kunwar, Nar Bahadur Gurung, police assistant constable Mahesh Dhami, and the chief administrative officer of Himali Rural Municipality Kul Bahadur Thapa were injured. The seriously injured Pema Gora Gurung, Laxmi Gurung, Minu Kunwar, and Nar Bahadur Gurung were taken to Kathmandu by helicopter for treatment. After treatment, they have returned home.

After the Sudurpaschim Province government allocated Rs 4 million to start construction of the building, locals of Kharpunath and Sarkegad in Humla had objected to the construction of a police post in their area. After the incident, the government has also established a temporary security base camp for the Armed Police Force and Nepali Police in Lampata. The government has also formed an investigation committee into the border dispute between the two districts.
