Tensions between Bajura and Humla have been simmering since last week. Youths from Himali Rural Municipality in Bajura have blocked the Karnali Corridor again on Sunday, alleging that no action has been taken against those involved in the incident.

Due to the blockade of the corridor, transport and transportation vehicles to Humla have been stopped at Dhulachaur. The road has been blocked again for the third day.

A joint security force has been sent from Bajura to the Ranisain and Lampata areas, which have been tense since last week. A team of 25 security personnel, including Nepal Police and Armed Police, was mobilized from Bajura on Saturday, according to the District Police Office, Bajura. It takes 1 day of road transport and at least 2 days of walking to reach Lampata from the district headquarters, Martadi.

Last week, after five people including Pema Gara Gurung, a ward member of Lampata, Himali Rural Municipality-3, Bajura, were beaten up and a team including Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan Mayor Gopal Hamal, District Coordination Committee Coordinator Tulsiram Rokaya, and Himali Rural Municipality Chairman Govinda Bahadur Malla were chased out of Lampata without being allowed to go to Ranisain, residents of Kharpunath Rural Municipality-2 Thali in Humla beat up the locals of Lampata and chased away tourists.

According to Bajura Police Chief Shaileshwari Bohara, a team of security personnel led by a police inspector has been sent to the Lampata area. A police team from Humla is also in the area and a meeting of the District Security Committee is being held on Sunday to discuss further, said Humla Assistant Chief District Officer Rajendra Kumar Chand.

It has been reported that a complaint has been registered against those involved in the incident at the Bajura District Police Office. The incident took place in Bajura and Humla residents were involved, so preparations are underway to arrest them after Bajura issued an arrest warrant and sent it to the Humla District Police Office, said Assistant Chief District Officer Chand of Humla. 'No arrests have been received from Bajura.' However, there is news from the police media,' said Assistant Chief District Officer Chand, 'Humla police are monitoring those involved in the incident, we will take them under control as soon as we receive the arrest warrant.' Bajura police have stated that a complaint has been registered.

In the incident, Himali Rural Municipality Chief Administrative Officer Kul Bahadur Thapa, Ward No. 3 member Pema Gara Gurung, his wife Laxmi Gurung, local Minu Kunwar and Police Assistant Constable Ramesh Dhami were beaten up. Ward member Gurung's house and food grains were taken under control. They were rescued by helicopter.

While on their way to Ranisain, a tourist area in Bajura, which is the eastern base camp of Saipal Himal, for tourism promotion, a team including Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City Mayor Gopal Hamal was stopped by residents of Raya and Thali villages of Kharpunath Rural Municipality-2 in Humla and prevented from going to Ranisain on Tuesday.

Karna Bahadur Rawal, Chairman of Kharpunath Rural Municipality in Humla, has been saying that the protest was against the establishment of a police post in their area.

Ranisain Bichhya, Lampata area occupies 40 percent of the total area of Bajura. This area is considered a reserve of Bajura's herbs and rare wildlife. Although there are 11 settlements in Himali-3 of Bajura, including Bam, Rumdi, Lampata, Gumba, Neta, Boudi, Kot, Kotigau, Tin, Deusain, and Yuna, the population is only 810.

Due to the low population and sparse settlement, some political businessmen from Humla are involved in the smuggling of herbs and wildlife in this area, says Suresh Chandra DC, Chief of the District Forest Division Office, Bajura.
