One person was injured in a fight between two people at Kanchanpur Prison in Mahendranagar. The fight took place on Sunday morning.
A fight broke out between drug-related prisoners Bhuvan Air and Ganesh Bista. Bista has suffered a head injury. He is being treated at the Mahakali Provincial Hospital, said prison chief Hemantri Saund. The injured Bista said that he was attacked by drug users after he reported that brown heroin had entered the prison.
Prison chief Saund said that an investigation is underway into the incident. ‘The fight took place this morning due to an argument between two people,’ she said. ‘The reason for the argument has not been found, the injured are currently being treated.’
There was a clash between inmates in the prison just two months ago. The prisoners attacked the Naike faction, accusing them of demanding bribes even to deliver letters to the administration and of smuggling drugs into the prison. Mahendranagar Prison, which has a capacity of 180, currently houses 384 prisoners, including 16 women, more than double its capacity.
