The Nepal Uma Kung Fu Association honored karate athletes Sunil Lama and Yangten Lama on Sunday. Sunil was honored in recognition of his achievements in karate and his contribution to the development and expansion of the sport. Similarly, Sunil’s son Yangten was honored for his accomplishments in various competitions.
Both were honored on the occasion of the conclusion of the Uma Kung Fu grading held at The Elite Co-Ed in Swayambhu. Sunil had won gold medals at the 11th South Asian Games held in Bangladesh and the 13th Asia Pacific Sitoriyo Karate Championship. He has represented Nepal in various international competitions and won medals.
Sunil, who resides in New York, USA, has established the Champions Martial Art Academy there and remains active in karate. An academy of the same name is also in operation in Raniban, Kathmandu. Elite Co-Ed Principal Samjhana Karmacharya Kapali, Nepal Uma Kung Fu Association President Sanjit Kumar Rai, Vice President Bhupendra Gurung, Uma Kung Fu Chief Instructor Deepak Shrestha, WMAC Nepal President Swayambhuraj Dangol, and others honored Sunil and Yangten with certificates of appreciation.
