Para taekwondo athlete Renu Tamang will participate in the Fifth Asian Para Games to be held in Aichi/Nagoya, Japan. Renu's participation in the Asian Para Games has been confirmed after receiving a wild card, according to Hemant Dangi, General Secretary of the Nepal Taekwondo Association.
Renu is currently ranked 26th in the world and 13th in Asia, according to Kabiraj Negi Lama, a member of the Taekwondo Association and also a para taekwondo coach. Last year, Renu won a bronze medal in the women's under 47 kg K-44 category at the Asian Youth Games held in Dubai, UAE.
Renu also participated in the 10th Asian Para Taekwondo Championship 2025 held in Malaysia and the 11th Asian Para Taekwondo Championship 2026 held in Mongolia. Along with Renu, a total of two athletes have so far been confirmed to participate in para taekwondo at the Asian Para Games to be held in Japan from Kartik 1 to 7. Previously, Palesha Govardhan had already been selected based on her ranking.
