Nepal has been placed in the host Japan's group in the women's volleyball competition of the 20th Asian Games. The draw for the Asian Games, which will be held from September 19 to October 4, took place on Thursday. Accordingly, Nepal is in Group 'A' along with Japan and Indonesia.

The Nepali women's volleyball team is set to play in the Asian Games for the second consecutive time. Nepal also participated in the Hangzhou Asian Games. In the group stage, Nepal was defeated in straight sets by South Korea and Vietnam.

This time, however, the Nepali men's volleyball team will not participate. The men's team had also played in Hangzhou.

There are 14 nations participating in women's volleyball at the Asian Games in Japan. They have been divided into four groups. Based on world rankings, Nepal secured a place in the competition by being among Asia's top 14 teams. Currently, Nepal is ranked 68th in the world rankings.

Japan, Asia's strongest team, is ranked sixth in the world, while Indonesia is ranked 60th. Japan is also the previous runner-up.

Group 'B' includes defending champion China, Kazakhstan, and the Philippines; Group 'C' includes Thailand, which won bronze in China, along with Chinese Taipei, Kyrgyzstan, and Mongolia; and Group 'D' consists of Vietnam, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Qatar.
